Export energy??

Who would have ever though that the US might one day be exporting energy, but it is mentioned here:

They don't mention coal. Near here, just north of Bellingham WA there is an effort underway to build a dry goods terminal, mostly for shipping coal to China. If this terminal is built, estimates are (I believe) that they will move THIRTY LINEAR MILES of hopper cars through the terminal every day. The coal would be coming from Wyoming and Montana.

Does it make sense to anyone here that we would be selling this stuff?

Reminds me a bit of our tobacco addiction, we don't think it's good to use, but we can justify exporting it to others.  God forgive us.

Exporting gas is probably just as sinful and given the current mental state in the world, if we don't supply the energy someone else will.

I know Montana has been looking for ways to integrate their abundance of coal into the mainstream, but had not heard they were exporting it.
